Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 June 2026

Pinedrop is built to be private by design. It has no servers, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. The developer does not collect, receive, store, or have any access to your data. Everything happens on your device and, when you choose, directly between your device and the phones of the people on your trip over the local network.

What Pinedrop accesses, and why

Photos. With your permission, Pinedrop reads photos and videos from your device's photo library so it can build a trip album from the dates you select. Your media stays on your device. It is shared only with members of a trip you join, only after you light the "campfire," and full-quality originals are sent only when you or another member explicitly requests them. Nothing is ever uploaded to the developer or any third party.

Camera. Used solely to scan a trip's QR code so you can join a trip. No photos or videos are taken, stored, or transmitted by this feature.

Local network. Used to discover and connect to other trip members nearby and to transfer album content directly between devices. No internet connection is used or required for sharing.

Sign in with Apple (optional). If you choose to sign in, Apple provides your name (and a unique identifier) to the app. We request your name only, to label your contributions in the album. This information is stored on your device and is not sent to the developer. You can instead "Continue without account."

What we store on your device

Your display name, your list of trips, and your in-app choices (such as which photos you removed from an album) are stored locally on your device using the system's standard storage. Your cryptographic signing key is stored in the device Keychain and never leaves the device. Removing the app removes this data.

What we do not do

Data shared between trip members

When you light the campfire, lightweight previews of your album and, on request, full-quality originals are sent directly to the other members of that trip. Those members are people you choose to share a trip with. The developer is not involved in and has no visibility into these peer-to-peer transfers.

Children

Pinedrop is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
